The defrost thermostat PL007 15690 is located inside the refrigerator and can be mounted directly or indirectly on the evaporator.
It has two wires (7.9") in series with the heater and a clip on the thermostat body that locks it to the evaporator tube.
The thermostat prevents the refrigerator from overheating during the defrost cycle by protecting the evaporator.
This clip-on thermostat will sense the temperature increase in the evaporator during defrosting and turn off the defrost heater after the ice or frost has melted.

How does a bimetal defrost thermostat work?
A defrost bimetal thermostat works separately from the refrigerator or freezer. This device, which turns on several times a day, senses the temperature of cooling coils. When the frost is all melted, the bimetal thermostat will sense the temperature increase and trigger the defrost heater to turn off.
